Swiss Fruit Muesli

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup boiling water
  • ¼ cup cracked wheat (also called bulgur)
  • ½ cup pitted prunes
  • ¼ cup of walnuts
  • ½ cup quick rolled oats
  • Sliced peaches, pears, grapes, apples or bananas (optional)
  • Honey, or Maple syrup

Directions

The night before: pour ¼ cup boiling water over ¼ cup cracked wheat (also called bulgur); let stand 30 minutes. Meanwhile, chop ½ cup pitted prunes and ¼ cup of walnuts. In bowl, combine ½ cup quick rolled oats, soaked wheat, prunes and walnuts; stir in 2 cups milk or low-fat yogurt. Cover and refrigerate.

In the morning: Divide muesli into 4 bowls. Top with sliced peaches, pears, grapes, apples or bananas. If desired, pass honey, or maple syrup for sweetening.
