Brown Eyed Susans

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter/oleo
  • 3 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Almond ext.
  • ¼ tsp. Salt
  • 2 cups Sifted flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Cocoa
  • ½ tsp. Vanilla
  • Hot water
  • Blanched Almonds

Directions

Cream butter. Add sugar, Almond extract and salt. Blend in flour. Shape into balls of 1 Tbsp. dough each. Place on greased cookie sheet and flatten to ¼ inch thickness with bottom of glass dipped in flour. Bake at 400 deg about 10 - 12 minutes. Let cool. Frosting: Blend powdered sugar and cocoa adding enough water for spreading consistency. Add vanilla. Place ½ tsp. frosting in center of each cookie and top with a split almond.
