Wisconsin Bars

 

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter/oleo
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 4 med. Cooking Apples
  • 2¼ cups Flour
  • ¼ cup Cream cheese
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Baking powder
  • ½ lb. Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar

Directions

Combine granulated sugar, butter, egg yolks, baking powder, salt and 2 cups flour. Blend until crumbly. Pat ½ of the mixture in 9 x 13 pan and press down. In bowl, grate cheese and apples (leave some peel on apples). Add sugar, ¼ cup flour and cinnamon, mixing well. Spread over first layer. Spread remaining mixture for 3rd layer. Whip egg whites until peaks form. Add powdered sugar and cream cheese and mix well. Spoon over entire mixture. Bake at 350 deg for 20-35 min.

Very different tasting bars. Good way to use up apples.
