Blond Brownies

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • ½ tsp. Baking powder
  • 1/3 cup Shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. Hot water
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips
  • 1/8 tsp. Baking soda
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • ½ cup Chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla

Directions

Melt shortening and add brown sugar. If using veg. shortening add 1 Tbsp. hot water. Cool about 20 minutes. Stir in slightly beaten egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and gradually add to sugar mixture along with nuts. Spread in greased 8 x 8 pan and top with chocolate chips. Bake 25 - 30 minutes at 350 deg.
