Snickerdoodles

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Shortening
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1½ cups Sugar
  • 2¾ cups Flour
  • 2 tsp. Cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. Baking soda
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • 2 tsp. Cinnamon

Directions

Mix shortening, eggs and sugar together. Sift together rest of ingredients and add to egg mixture. Chill 1 hour or more to make handling better. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Roll each into mixture of 2 Tbsp. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon. Place 2 inches apart on un-greased cookie sheets. Bake 8 - 10 minutes at 400 deg. or until lightly browned but still soft. These cookies puff up at first but flatten out with a crinkled top.

I like to make these because the ingredients are almost always at hand.
