Ingredients

  • 1 cup Milk (warmed)
  • 1 cake Compressed yeast
  • ¼ cup Chopped citron
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 1 lg Egg
  • ½ cup Raisins
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter (soft)
  • ½ tsp. Cardamom
  • 3½ cups Sifted flour

Directions

Mix first four ingredients. Crumble in cake of yeast and stir until dissolved. Add egg and butter, mixing with spoon. Add flour mixing with hand as dough stiffens. Work in citron and raisins. Knead and let rise twice. Shape into round loaf and place in 9” round cake pan. Cover and let rise 45-60 min. Bake @ 350 deg 30-40 min. While hot brush with melted butter.
